SRINAGAR: Traffic on Srinagar-Jammu national highway was suspended following massive protests over the Ramban incident which left several persons dead.
Angry protesters erected barricades at many places and burned rubber tyres along the 300 km long highway forcing authorities to close it for vehicular traffic.
Officials said authorities are monitoring the situation and a decision to allow traffic on the highway – the only road linking Kashmir with rest of the country – will depend on the emerging law and order situation.
The officials said the situation was very tense but under control.
