Mysterious Deaths of Kashmiri Youths in Mumbai, Rajasthan
Srinagar: A class VII student was injured after cops fired pellet guns at protesting youth in downtown area of Srinagar on Monday while as spontaneous shutdown was observed in some parts of North Kashmir and Nawab Bazar of Old City following the mysterious deaths of two Kashmiri youths in Mumbai.
Bandipora, Pattan, Palhallan, Sopore and Nawab Bazar observed a complete shutdown against mysterious deaths of Parvaiz Ahmad Teli son of Mohd Sultan Teli of Qalamdanpora, Nawbazar whose body was found on Sunday in Mumbai and Abid Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Larsun Ganderbal, who died under mysterious circumstances in Rajasthan.
Eyewitnesses said scores of youth took to streets and started pelting stones at police at Bandipora and Sopore resulting in chaos in the area. Within no time, all the shops and business establishments were closed.
Similar clashes were also reported from Nawab Bazar in Srinagar. A 13-year-old boy identified as Shakir Ahmad Bhat (a Class 7th student) son of Farooq Ahmad Bhat was injured after cops fired pellet guns at Nawabazar to disperse the protestors.
He received pellets all over his body and was removed to SKIMS, an eyewitness said.
Pertinently, State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has observed that the law enforcing agencies were bound to strictly follow Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and adhere to the use of non-lethal methods of mob control in order to prevent casualties.
It must be the endeavor of the law enforcing agencies to use minimum force, which will not cause any casualties or serious injuries, the Commission said.
