KULGAM: At least eight persons, including four employees, were injured when agitated protestors attacked the office of Executive Engineer, Power Development Department in South Kashmirs Kulgam district on Tuesday. Agitated protestors alleged that PDD failed to repair their damaged transformer even after ten months.
Reports said that scores of people from Takia Banghal blocked the road and raised anti-PDD slogans. Protestors alleged that their area is reeling under darkness from past ten months and despite repeated requests and pleas they did not bother to repair the damaged transformer.
Agitated protestors attacked the office of Executive Engineer Nazir Ahmed Dar and ransacked the office. They even smashed windowpanes and thrashed some employees. Reports said that during the clashes four employees Head Assistant Abdul Rashid Bhat, Gulzar Ahmed Lone, Tariq Ahmed and Mohammad Shafi got injured while the protestors who received injuries were identified as Manzoor Ahmed Shah, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, Jala-u-Din Shah and Ali Mohammad Shah.
The agitated protestors did not allow any vehicle to pass through the district for hours and it was only after the intervention of district administration who assured them of possible help that the protestors dispersed peacefully.
