Srinagar: A local court here on Thursday framed murder charges against a Dutchman, accused of killing an English woman Sarah Elizabeth Groves here in April this year.
Principal Sessions Judge Srinagar Muhammad Shafi Khan framed the charge after the Dutchman pleaded not guilty.
Last month, English version of chargesheet was provided to the accused after his, counsel, Shilpi, moved an application, stating neither she nor the person she was representing was conversant with Urdu, the official language of the state.
On April 6, a British woman tourist was found murdered in a houseboat in Dal lake and police arrested a Richard De-Wit, saying he was involved in the killing. After an FIR (40/2013) under section 302 of RPC was registered in police station Ram Munshi Bagh, Srinagar, Police carried out the investigation and filed chargesheet before the court of CJM Srinagar who committed the case to Principal Sessions Court here.
