Srinagar: The central Kashmir Range level T-20 Premier league cricket tournament concluded here today, with final played between Masters XI Ompora, Budgam and Humhama Cricket club. Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Abdul Ghani Mir was chief guest on this occasion.
Speaking on this occasion IGP said that from last few years J&K Police has been organizing events to provide platform to youth for excelling in different fields. He said that such events are not organised in sports but in other fields as well. The IGP said that the youth who consist of sizable portion of our population should take optimum benefits from these programmes. He said the youth must work hard to excel in the field of sports and follow the footsteps of cricketer Parvez Rasool, since there is no substitute for hard work.
Todays final was played between Humhama Cricket club and Masters XI Ompora at DPS, Athwajan playground. Masters XI Ompora scored 160 runs in the stipulated 20 overs , Humhama Cricket club achieved the target with a scintillating 76 runs blitz by Arshid Ahmed who was declared the Man of the match also. Humhama Cricket club won the finals by 5 wickets.
Six teams from Central Kashmir Range of Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal participated in the T-20 tourney. The teams from Budgam, Humhama Cricket club and Masters XI Ompora reached the finals.
Imtiyaz Ahmad of Masters XI Ompora was declared Man of the series.
The organizers Deputy Inspector General of police S A Mujtaba gave away the awards to the runners up team while the winners teams were presented awards by IGP Kashmir at an impressive award function.
