Srinagar The police is being allegedly asked not to register an FIR in a case of gambling involving ‘high and mighty’.
It has come to fore that scores of gamblers arrested from a Hotel on Lasjan Bypass belong to affluent families and most of them are associated with either political parties or are relatives of politicians.
Sources said Rs 55 Lakh were seized which was put to gamble. It involves close relatives of top Congress, leader and cabinet minister, top carpet dealer from Nishat and top eight officials of JKCA who have direct say in Ranjhi trophy selection.
Station House Officer Nowgam, Mushtaq Ahemd said that he is unable to speak on the issue. You please contact SP South if you want complete information, he said. However, despite repeated attempts, SP South did not pick up the phone.
All these gamblers are being referred as prominent citizens and are frequently seen at high profile functions. CNS
