SRINAGAR: Minister for Tourism, Mr. Ghulam Ahmed Mir today reviewed the arrangements made for smooth conduct of Mughal Road Car Rally commencing on 29th June via Srinagar-Khanabal-Dooru-Veerinag-Kokernag-Daksum-Sinthan Pass and back to Srinagar at an officers meeting held today at Veerinag.
The event would have 2 separate rallies-the EXTREME and the Enduro through this route. The EXTREME is the fast paced event with professional drivers, where the Enduro is the slower event promoting tourism through motoring in the State.
Under leg 2 (EXTREME) the rally will pass through Srinagar-Khanabal-Dooru-Veerinag-Kokernag-Daksam-Sinthan Pass and back to Srinagar and under leg 2 (Enduro) the rally will pass through Jammu-Bhamla-Reasi-Gool-Ramban and return via National Highway to Srinagar.
The 4th Mughal Road Car Rally organized by Himalayan Motor Sports Association, Shimla in sponsorship with Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department aims to showcase adventure and varied tourism potential across Mughal Road and other tourist circuits connected with the inter regional link.
Besides, officers of Education, PHE, R&B, Tourism, Power, Local Bodies, Health, Police the prominent citizens, representatives of Trade and Commerce and Panchs and Sarpanchs participated in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, the Tourism Minister said that such international level car rallies held for the first time via Dooru-Veerinag would promote the varied tourism potential of these areas. He called upon the people to give rousing welcome to the rallyists while passing through various villages of the area. He also asked for removal of all obstacles from the roads for smooth movement of the rally.
The Minister said that the rally would also prove beneficial to encourage the youth of the state to come forward and participate in adventure sports. This is a step towards promotion of adventure tourism in South Kashmir, he said and added that it is also an attempt to promote the historical Mughal road as a tourist destination.
The Minister asked all the concerned authorities for ensuring fool proof arrangement for the rally and stressed for close coordination between civil and police administration for providing necessary logistic support to the rallyists.
The Minister instructed R&B department to ensure clear roads on the rally day. He asked Traffic authorities for regulating traffic during the rally period and stressed for taking all safety and security measures for making the event successful. He asked concerned Health authorities for keeping dedicated teams of doctors ready besides ensuring availability of critical Ambulances en-route the rally during the event.
The concerned authorities assured the Minister that all necessary arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the rally via Khanabal-Dooru-Veerinag-Kokernag-Sinthan to Kishtawar.
