SRINAGAR – In a bizarre incident of its kind, an auto rickshaw driver sustained serious burn injuries after his rickshaw caught fire at Karan Nagar in Srinagar City this afternoon.
A police official said that an auto rickshaw driver Merajdin Sofi of Kanimazar, Srinagar was injured critically in the incident. The fire broke due to leakage of petrol after rickshaw overturned at Karan Nagar.
The auto rickshaw was completely gutted in the incident and the driver sustained 70 percent burn injuries, the official said, adding that the injured was immediately rushed to SKIMS Soura for treatment.
However, the condition of the driver is said to be critical. Police has registered a case in this regard.
Meanwhile, fire broke out in the two storeyed residential house and shop of Ghulam Nabi Malik son of Mohammad Akbar resident of Lassu Bran Nard, Anantnag, in the jurisdiction of police station Kokernag, resulting in completed damage to the house and the shop.
