Artist Rouble Nagi Visits KU’s DLL, MERC

Says ‘Kashmir Is my Heart’

SRINAGAR – In her maiden visit to the picturesque Kashmir University campus, the enthralled prominent sculptor, mural designer and artist, Rouble Nagi today said that she would always portray Kashmir as a “big and dearest heart”. “Kashmir is my love. This is such a beautiful place that I honestly would portray it (Kashmir) as a big heart and dearest,” while interacting the officials at the Directorate of Lifelong Learning (DLL), University of Kashmir, Nagi, said. She also said that the youth in Kashmir need to take to the art as a medium of expression. “Youth here should just close their eyes and whatever comes into their mind and heart, they should portray the same on the canvas.” As a process of roping in some of the noted figures in art, literature, journalism, academics for the overall community bulling development programmes, the officials at the directorate said that it also aims to take up some initiatives to with such personalities and institutions to for the community upliftment. Nagi’s visit to the University was organised by the Kashmir University’s DLL. While congesting with the officials at the directorate, Nagi said that she would soon come to Kashmir to start an art workshop with the students of the Kashmir University and children of other downtrodden sectors. “We need to build a strong base to communicate with the unreached and unprivileged class of our society. The children of such areas need our care and concern,” she said. The In-charge director, Dr GH Mir said that his directorate was open enough to incorporate artists, entrepreneurs, businessmen, academics, scholars for the overall personality of the students thronging the directorate for various courses. Dr. G H Mir, an expert in lifelong learning has been appointed incharge Director of the prestigious Directorate of Lifelong Learning of the University of Kashmir. “We have to work among masses and lead numerous missions and projects which are aimed at improving the quality of life of the people, empowering the unprivileged and vocationalisation of educated youth. And for that we need to collaborate with the artist like Ms Nagi,” Dr. G H Mir said. Later Nagi visited the Kashmir University‘s Media Education Research Centre to have an informal interaction with the factuality and students. “We always welcome the personalities like artist Ms Nagi, who cam share their expertise and the passion opf their profession with our talented students,” co-ordinator, MERC, Faruq Masudi said. Masudi invited the noted artist to some classes on layout designing and aesthetics of art. The DLL later organised a visit of Nagi to the Baitul Hilal Yateem Khana, Jawahar Nagar, where the Nagi sat and painted with the children. It may be recalled here, the Directorate of Lifelong Learning (DLL), earlier known as Centre for Adult Continuing Education and Extension (CACEE) was established 1978 with academic status under the University of Kashmir in order to bring the change in the lives of the common masses of the region by providing professional, vocational, skill based and job oriented courses, workshops, trainings, seminars, sensitization cum awareness programmes.
