CHENNAI: Defending his getting JKLF chief Yasin Malik for a pro-Eelam meeting at Cuddalore last week, Naam Tamilar Katchi chief Seeman has argued there was nothing wrong in inviting his Kashmiri brother to Tamil Nadu.
Responding to criticism by Congress and BJP of Maliks presence at the indoor meeting of his party at Cudda¬lore on May 18, Seeman said there was nothing wrong in the JKLF chiefs presence as both their parties hold India is one country from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. JKLF is not a banned organisation. It may not be acceptable to BJP and Congress but its po¬litical leadership has a ri¬ght to express opinions in any part of the country, Seeman, also a film actor-director, said in a statement.
Why was the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in force in Kashmir despite the state becoming accorded special status, he asked. He slammed the Congress and BJP for adopting identical views regarding economic policies, which made them two sides of the same coin. Maliks presence at Seemans meet, which was confined to indo¬ors after police banned a me¬et for violating co¬nditions, had created a controversy with Congress and BJP demanding how the JKLF chief managed to make his way to Cuddalore.
