SRINAGAR: The cultural exhibition arranged by the Academy of Art, Culture and Languages at the Kashmir Haat has become a favourite site with the visitors of the exhibition. The exhibition presents mannequins, traditional costumes, calligraphy specimen, traditional jewelry, folk music instruments, photographs and blow ups depicting the rich cultural heritage of the state. The exhibition has especially become popular with budding generation of the Kashmir who take it as an opportunity to get a peep into the rich folk tradition of Kashmir. The visitors showed keen interest in the exhibition and appreciated the initiative of the Academy.
Meanwhile, as a part of the ongoing 2-month long Kashmir Folk Festival, a colourful cultural programme was held today at Acchabal, the famous South Kashmir tourist resort, with prominent folk artists performing before an enthusiastic audience.
Based on the folk music and folk dance of Kashmir, the programme presented the rich cultural heritage of Kashmir before a large audience including tourists.
The Academy in association with Department of Culture, J&K Government has taken the maiden initiative to celebrate the folk culture of Kashmir through its artistic performance by the folk artists. Various cultural items like Bhand Peather, Dhambhali, Cchakri with a mix of ghazals and light music are being performed at various tourist resorts in Kashmir. The programme started on May 4 and will conclude on July 9, 2013.
