SRINAGAR: Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani has shot a letter to Nawaz Sharif, urging him that any negotiations with India should not be mere bargaining chip in bilateral ties of the two countries. He also urged him not to follow Musharraf Formula on Kashmir.
In a letter addressed to the would be Prime Minister of Pakistan, Syed Ali Geelani declared that people of Jammu and Kashmir wont accept and would reject four point Musharraf formula, self rule, autonomy or soft border proposals.
Terming all these options vague, Geelani said these measures were cosmetic in nature, aimed at to dilute the kashmir issue and added that the alternatives in no way would prove permanent, lasting and final solution to the vexed Kashmir problem. They in no way satisfy and fulfil the aspirations and the sacrifices laid by the people of Jammu and Kashmir” Geelani said in the letter.
“In Your recent statement while announcing that your govt will pick the threads where it were left in past but do consider that India wont miss any opportunity and would harp on its tune that Kashmir is their integral part and even would not hesitate to say that negotiations are initiated for Kashmir which with its political vision had decided its future”, Geelani wrote.
“While in chair as Prime Minister of sovereign Pakistan, your good self has authority to come to terms with the parties but while dealing with India I tell you that the negotiations should be result oriented and not at the cost of aspirations of people of Jammu and Kashmir and your stand with respect to Kashmir dispute must be unambiguous and should convey a clear message that 18 resolutions guaranteeing the right to self determination to people of Jammu and Kashmir are final and no other midway or substitute solutions are acceptable at any cost” added Syed Ali Geelani.
“It has been observed that during all negotiations and parleys though the two countries admit that all disputes between the two would be solved through negotiations but despite more than 150 bilateral meeting and agreements there seems no end and India with its power of arrogance and rigid approach has denied any just solution for the vexed problem”, Geelani said.
