SRINAGAR: Dismissed JK Police head constable Abdul Ahad Jan, who hit the headlines in 2010 after he hurled a shoe at chief minister Omar Abdullah at Bakhshi Stadium, was arrested in an extortion case on Tuesday.
Preliminary reports suggested that Jan wearing police uniform had stopped a truck on Srinagar-Jammu highway in Pulwama. Jan boarded the truck headed to Jammu and asked the driver to show papers. Jan reportedly demanded money from the driver who hails from Punjab but he resisted and raised an alarm drawaing attention of a local police patrol. The police later booked Jan for extortion and arrested him.
