SRINAGAR: To save himself from the wrath of public, a pickpocket jumped into the river in Baramulla district on Friday.
According to reports, Jeel Gojri son of Abdul Karim Gojri, a resident of Ganaie Hamam, Baramulla tried to lay hand on a mans pocket full of cash. Eyewitnesses said that the alert man caught hold of Gojri but he somehow ran away from his clutches.
The alarm by the man drew attention of passersby and scores of them ran after the robber.
Station House Officer, Baramulla said that Jeel Gojri jumped into the river to save himself from the wrath of public. We have not recovered his body and we dont know whether he is alive or dead. Divers from police have been pressed into service, he said. Searches were on when reports last came in Friday evening.
