SRINAGAR: Students of Womens Polytechnic Collage Bemina Thursday held a demonstration and blocked national highway against non-availability of facilities in the collage hostel.
Scores of students took out a protest march and staged a sit-in on Srinagar-Baramulla highway disrupting movement of vehicular traffic. They alleged that the authorities were ignoring their demands of providing basic facilities to them.
Unhygienic food and water is being served to us. Many of the students have been hospitalized. We approached authorities at various occasions but our pleas fall on deaf ears, they claimed.
Accusing the College authorities of misappropriating of funds, they alleged, They are misusing power and position and is involved in misappropriation of funds. They are least bothered about our career and facilities available in hostel.
The protesting students said the college authorities told us that they would fail us in coming exams if we will protest against them. Our studies are getting adversely affected.
They threatened to launch an agitation if the government failed to redress their grievances. The College students appealed to the chief minister, Omar Abdullah and concerned Minster to look into the matter
However, the Principal denied the students charges saying, Ill look into the matter.
