GANDERBAL: Navin Agarwal, IPS, Director General Youth Services and Sports kicked off the BPEd course for the current session in Government College of Physical Education, Ganderbal.
The BPEd training course is being offered by the Government College of Physical Education for the candidates having passed minimum Graduation with sports background.
The College has intake capacity of 110 seats and this year 93 candidates have been selected under direct quota and 17 inservice Physical Education Teachers have been deputed for the said training.
The DG YSS also visited new campus of College which is coming up at Gadoora at an estimated cost of Rs 3039.04 lakhs. The work on the project is being executed through Jammu & Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JK PCC) and an amount of Rs 1350.00 lakhs has so far been released in favour of the Executing Agency. The DG YSS was apprised by the Principal College of Physical Education about the works so far completed and works presently in progress. The DG YSS ordered to speed up the work so that shifting of the College the new campus is done in near future. The new campus has a Stadium, constructed for physical activities of the trainees.
Agarwal also expressed concern over poor maintenance of the Madri-Meharban sports stadium at Ganderbal and non-implementation of government decision for handing it over to the Department of Youth Services and Sports for its upkeep and maintenance.
