SRINAGAR: Accusing Chief Minster Omar Abdullah of resorting to double standards, senior Congress leader and MLA G M Saroori Tuesday demanded a CBI inquiry into the spurious drug scam and said that the scam was a blot on Congress which needs to be washed away.
He questioned Omars intentions in saying the proof against the ministers was unsubstantiated. I wonder why the Chief Minster who referred my case which even was not registered in any Police Station to CBI within 24 hours seems hell bent to give clean chit to a Minster, when the entire Kashmir is up in arms against it, Sarori said on Tuesday.
He claimed that he was dropped from the cabinet for an issue which was very much personnel, but wondered why, Omar was not acting against a Minster who people allege is involved in a case that has seen 122 children dead by consuming spurious drugs.
Sarori alleged that almost 80 percent drug supply in erstwhile Doda district was substandard and under quality which can have a disastrous consequences. I appeal to Sonia Ji and Rahul Ji to intervene into this sensitive issue and take action against the tainted Minster of our party, Saroori said and added that Chief Minster should come clean on the issue and explain to the nation, why he was reluctant in referring the case to CBI.
I want Chief Minster to explain to the nation which has lost 122 children by causing faulty drugs as why he was not referring the case to CBI, he asked.
The MLA Inderwal added that there has been a revolution in health department in entire India, but unfortunately the progress in Kashmir has been reverse to the rest of the country.
Pertinently Saroori was sacked from the cabinet in late 2010 following the allegations of helping his daughter pass the MBBS entrance test fraudulently. He, however, was cleared of charges by CBI later but was not re inducted into the cabinet. (KNS)
