SRINAGAR: Seeking clarifications from Government of India over Ladakh standoff , Omar Abdullah Monday said that Government of India particularly Ministry of Defence should make things clear why it is withdrawing troops from its own territory.
Talking to reporters in Srinagar, Omar Abdullah said that he was surprised while going through some of the media reports that both China and India withdrew their forces.
I wonder where from India withdrew its forces. It is our territory and where from we had to withdraw, he said adding that some amount of clarity either from Government of India particularly from Ministry of Defence would be desired so that we would exactly know what the actual ground position is, he said adding the we welcome the withdrawal of Chinese troops from our region.
He said that there have been regular incursions on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and it is after long time that Chinese came and established their camps. They were there for 19 long days and I am glad that diplomatic measures taken by India and China gave us desired results and the Chinese forces withdrew yesterday. Obviously, with the presence of Chinese forces on the Indian side of LAC the visit of our Foreign Minister to China had been called into question. Now one hopes that this visit can go ahead and measures can be put into place to avoid such confrontations in future, he said.
