SRINAGAR: Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED) is reported to have become almost defunct. The department is without top brass including Chief Engineer, Accounts Officer, and Deputy Director Planning for past one month.
Well placed sources said the Chief Engineer R.C.Gupta and Accounts Officer, Rafiq Ahmed retired in March and since then these posts have been lying vacant. Even the department is without Deputy Director Planning.
A top official of UEED said on condition of anonymity that that government has entrusted Superintending Engineer, Prem Nath with all the responsibilities and right now, he is looking after every issue in the department.
Lack of top brass in the department has affected its functioning badly, he said. (CNS)
