NEW DELHI: UPA Chairperson, Sonia Gandhi Tuesday sought all the files and reports pertaining to spurious drug scam in Jammu and Kashmir, reports quoting Congress party sources said.
Sonia Gandhi, sought the report after Medical Education Minister, Taj Mohiudin briefed her about the scandal that has sparked outrage in the Valley.
Yes, I met UPA Chairperson in New Delhi. The meeting lasted for 22 minutes and she was kind enough to give me a patient hearing, Taj said and added that Sonia ji sought all the files and reports pertaining to drug scam as I informed her about the demands of the people of Kashmir.
Whatever I know about the drug scam, I told her. There was nothing to hide and I made her fully aware about the current situation prevailing in the Valley, Taj said.
Taj said that Sonia ji is deeply concerned over the supply of fake drugs to different hospitals. She in my presence sought all the files and reports pertaining to drug scam and assured me that stern action will be taken against the guilty, whosoever he may be, he said.
When asked if he did mention all the names involved in the fake drug scam, Taj said that Sonia Gandhi knows everything and it is not question of mentioning names.
The sources further said that during the meeting, Taj Mohi ud din in an effort to clear his position on alleged PHE scam presented the achievement report to the party president.
The achievement card flagged the progress on various PHE schemes particularly the Wular and Tawi barrages and Veer Chatabal Srinagar, which according to sources Taj termed as major achievements.
Sonia Gandhi is also believed to have asked party leaders in Jammu and Kashmir to put an end to infighting in the state Unit and advised party leaders to work unanimously for strengthening the party in the state.
