SRINAGAR: Residents of a Kangan village on Tuesday alleged harassment and violence at the hands of activists of a particular political party, blaming the local MLA for pressure tactics.
They pelt stones at our houses during the night, and threaten us with dire consequences if we dont support the present MLA, Abdul Aziz Khatana of Wuddar Kangan was quoted by the CNS as having said.
For unknown reasons, the police is unable to register a First Information Report (FIR), he said.
The MLA has scores of chamchas who force us to join their party, the villagers said. In the last elections, we had voted for the present MLA, but soon after winning the seat, he forgot us and the promises he had made.
According to the CNS, the MLA has denied the allegations.
Kangan is a vast area. I dont know who these people are, and why they are trying to malign me, he was quoted as having said.
