SRINAGAR: A three-year-old girl missing for the past month was recovered by the Magam police from the Chattabal quarter of Srinagar on Tuesday.
One woman, identified as Rubina, wife of Manzoor Ahmad Khanday of Rampora Chattabal, has been taken into custody on charges of kidnapping, the police said.
Anjum Ghulam of Tangmarg had disappeared on March 30 from Mazhama where her father had taken her for treatment, her father, Ghulam Muhammad, said.
When I was about to leave for home, I found that a shoe had fallen off her feet, he recollected during protests today.
I put my daughter down and started looking for the shoe. But as I straightened, I found the child gone, he said.
The Magam police said its month long search bore fruit today when the station officer (SHO), Rauf Ahmad Bazaaz, received a tip-off with regard to the girls whereabouts.
A police team led by the SHO recovered the child from Chattabal and handed her over to the parents, it said.
