Taj meets Soz, agrees to work together
SRINAGAR: Feeling embarrassed with the open infighting in the party, Congress has final switched into damage control mode possibly to sort out the differences between the senior leaders particularly Taj Mohi ud din and Sham Lal Sharma.
Well placed sources said that with the intervention of AICC President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, senior leader and Medical Education Minster Taj Mohiuddin on Tuesday met PCC chief Prof. Saifudin Soz at his 12 Akbar road residence in New Delhi.
This was the first meeting between the two leaders since PHE Minster Sham Lal Sharma, considered a close aid of Soz, accused Taj of malpractices in PHE during his (Tajs) tenure.
Taj met Soz at his official residence in New Delhi during which both the leaders discussed various issues including the fall out of the controversy between Taj and Sham, sources said. They added, that both the leaders agreed to work together for strengthening of the party in the state.
The sources further added that Taj drove to Sozs residence soon after meeting Sonia Gandhi. It is believed that Sonia has directed all the top leaders in the state to sort out the differences without any delay so that the party could be prepared for the next years elections. Congress has already sent out feelers of going alone in the elections triggering a political storm in the state ahead of the polls. KNS
