SRINAGAR: The Muttahida Majlis-e-Mashawarat (MMM) spearheading a separatist campaign for the return of the mortal remains of Muhammad Afzal Guru and Muhammad Maqbool Bhat has not included any hartal in its latest calendar, but called for protest demonstrations across Kashmir on Friday.
The MMM was formed on the single-point demand of returning the mortal remains of Muhammad Maqbool Bhat and Muhammad Afzal Guru, the Majlis said in a statement today. The leadership of the people of Jammu and Kashmir will never relinquish this demand.
Soon after the leadership in Kashmir raised the demand, the government of India once again resorted to its crafty politics by not only refusing to return the bodies but also arresting those calling for it, several of them under the Public Safety Act, it said.
The issue should raised with vigour on the facebook where the MMM has created a page for Maqbool and Afzal, it said.
Not only Kashmiris, but fair-minded people across the world will sign into the online campaign for the return of the bodies of the two martyrs, it said.
Moreover, people across Kashmir will hold strong protests after Friday prayers this week, raising the demand with azadi and takbeer slogans, it said, adding that future programmes over the issue would be announced solely by the Majlis.
