SRINAGAR: Mainstream and separatist leaders have in one voice said that Government of India was unfair while dealing with Gurus case.
Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Ali Mohammad Sagar said that the Supreme Court endorsed the stand of National Conference. What the Supreme Court has stated is absolutely right and in a sense the apex court has taken a dig at Home Minister of India. It is the victory of our stand as we have been maintaining that Afzal should have been allowed to meet his family, Sagar said.
State Congress president Saif-u-Din Soz said that it was wrong not to allow Afzals family to meet him. Family should have been properly invited and they should have been allowed to meet Afzal Guru before he was sent to gallows, said Soz .
Reacting to the statement made by the Supreme Court of India about Afzal Guru, Peoples Democratic Party spokesperson Nayeem Akhter said that this is so obvious that Afzal Guru and his family were rounded. The intention that was expressed by everybody, including PDP, has now got the stamp of Supreme Court which is good but unfortunately not good because Afzal Guru is dead and his family was denied to have a last glimpse of him, Akhter said.
Member Assembly Langate, Engineer Rasheed said that this statement of Supreme Court amply proves that New Delhi always uses a different yard stick when it comes to Kashmir. India itself today proved that Kashmir is not its part. India admitted its mistake today and accepted that it did wrong. India always wants to ruin the lives of Kashmiri people and in fact it can never be friend of common Kashmiri, independent MLA said.
Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chairman Yasin Malik said that even when President rejects the clemency petition the accused has right to move court once again but Afazal was not given that chance. Whatever happened in Afzal Gurus case was all illegal. Everything was done illegally and now the Supreme Court maintained that it was wrong not to allow the family to meet him before his execution, Malik said adding that grave injustice was done with Afzal Guru.
Democratic Liberation Party Chairman Hashim Qureshi said that it was totally injustice on part of Indian rulers not to allow Afzal to meet his family and now the Supreme Court has confirmed it.
Senior Hurriyat leader, Aga Syed Hassan said that everyone knows that India trampled the system of justice in case of Afzal Guru and now the highest court of India was admitting that government committed a crime. CNS
