SRINAGAR: At least five police personnel, including two members of the bomb disposal squad, were injured in blast inside the Parimpora police station on Srinagar outskirts on Tuesday.
The blast occurred when explosives seized in the fidayeen attack in Bemina recently were being shifted to the forensic laboratory for further analysis, sources said.
Those injured included station house officer Ghulam Mohiuddin, sub-inspector Suhail Ahmad, and reader Muhammad Subhan.
All injured were shifted to the SKIMS Medical College Hospital at Bemina.
The blast was learnt to have rocked the area, causing people to run for cover.
An agency report, quoting the inspector general of police for Kashmir, Abdul Ghani Mir, said that the explosion had occurred when bomb disposal personnel were defusing a seized grenade.
All injured have been hospitalised, and are in a stable condition, the IGP was quoted as having said.
