SRINAGAR: Mutahida Majlis-e-Mashawarat (MMM) call for protests at New Delhis Jantar Mantar on Saturday evoked poor response as only few Kashmiri leaders assembled there for the purpose.
Delhi policemen not only harassed the Kashmiri separatist leaders but abused and accused them for being anti national, an activist said.
Though we were not part of MMM yet being the responsible citizens of Kashmir, we reached at Jantar Mantar to register our protest. But we were harassed not only by police but by right wing activists as well, JKLF (H) leader Javid Ahmed Mir said on phone from New Delhi.
Pertinently, MMM had appealed the civil society groups of India to assemble at Jantar Mantar on Saturday to demand the return of mortal remains of Afzal Guru back to his family.
Reports suggest that no one from Kashmir or any civil society member from Delhi arrived at Jantar Mantar. Few Kashmiri separatist leaders including Javid Ahmed Mir, Shabir Ahmed Dar and Zaffar Akbar Bhat arrived at Jantar Mantar however they were forcibly evacuated from the place. Some people from India told us that they are mourning the death of Bhagat Singh which falls on 23rd of March every year and they will not allow anti-India protest on this day, a separatist leader told CNS.
Today on this day in 1931, our beloved leader Bhagat Singh was hanged by British and how can we allow you to stage anti-India demos. It will be good for your health if you leave the place without wasting our time, an activist told Kashmiri separatist leaders. (CNS)
