SRINAGAR: The chairman of the Hurriyat (G), Syed Ali Shah Geelani, is to address the Kashmiri people on the social media on Saturday evening, a statement said.
Users can tune in to the address at 8:30 p.m. tomorrow by logging on to http://hurriyatconference.com, http://www.syedaligeelani.info, orhttp://tehreek-e-hurriyat.com, the Hurriyat (G) said.
The address will also be available on facebook at AllPartiesHurriyatConference, it said.
Geelani has taken recourse of the social media because the government has cut him off from the masses by placing him under house arrest for several months, it said.
This would be the first time that any political figure in the state speaks to the masses on the social media.
Incidentally, Geelanis address coincides with the national day of neighbouring Pakistan whose High Commission in New Delhi often invites pro-freedom groups from Kashmir too to functions marking the occasion.
