BANDIPORE: The Additional District Development Commissioner, Bandipora, G.M. Brakoo today flagged off 35 fishermen for exposure tour to various government and private Fish Farms of Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal, Pulwama, Baramulla and other districts under Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA).
During this 5 days visit, these fishermen will get awareness about the latest and scientific techniques.
Assistant Director Fisheries Bandipora, fishermen besides other people were present on this occasion.
It was given out that 21 lakh Kgs of fish production has been recorded in district Bandipora during this fiscal, as a result the fishermen earned a revenue of about Rs. 33.40 crore. The department also earned Rs. 4 lakh by selling 1947 Kgs of trout and carp fish. As many as 571 fishermen were provided nylon twine worth Rs. 2.85 lakh free of cost. Fishing license was issued to 1926 fishermen of the district whileas 11 lakh different kinds of fish seed was stocked in Wullar Lake, River Jehlum, Sumbal Sars, Madhumati Nallah and Arin Nallah in the district.
