SRINAGAR: Farooq Ahmad Shah today took over as Deputy Commissioner Srinagar following a recent court order asking for placement of a capable and upright officer to head the district administration.
Shah earlier served as Director Tourism and DC Anantnag besides CEO Gulmarg Dev Authority and MD Cable Car Corporation.
He spearheaded the campaign for revival of tourism in the state and played a pivotal role in developing the tourism infrastructure including setting up and face lifting of the Gulmarg Gondola , Royal Springs Golf Course, Pahalgam Golf Course, Nageen club, Peerzoo Restaurant etc
Shah while setting goals for his stint as DC Srinagar, said that accessibility and accountability of administration towards public will be his priority and the administration along with SMC and SDA will work hard to regain and retain the pristine glory of Srinagar city.
He said that the gap between public and administration will be removed and the administrations top priority will be to redress peoples problems. He said that the smooth and speedy traffic flow at HMT and PANTHACHOWK will be ensured and it will be his first priority.
