SRINAGAR: Police on Sunday lodged an FIR against the Indian news channel Times Now for allegedly running a news ticker that said in Bemina attack 5 school children were killed.
We have lodged an FIR against the channel and investigation is underway, Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar, S A Bukhari said adding that if proved the channel operators will face the music.
The channel allegedly had claimed that in a shootout between militants and security personnel, five school children had been killed.
Taking strong note of the ticker, police in Jammu and Kashmir has registered a case against the channel. Times Now completely showed that it is an irresponsible channel which aims at playing with the sentiments of people. Its only aim is to instigate violence, a top un named police officer was quoted by CNS as saying.
Meanwhile, SSP Srinagar confirmed to CNS that a case has been lodged against the Times Now and investigation was going on. (CNS)
