SRINAGAR: Supporting the resolution passed by Pakistan demanding return of the mortal remains of Afzal Gruu, an independent MLA from north Kashmir Friday blamed National Conference on the floor of House for being a party to India in terrorizing people of Kashmir and legalizing terror in Kashmir Valley.
Legislative Assembly witnessed uproarious scenes again on Friday when MLA Er Rashid blamed late Shiek Mohammad Abdullah for selling out Kashmir for power.
His remarks evoked quick reaction from the National Conference ministers and members and they in one voice shouted at him and asked him to leave the house. However, Rashid came in well and single-handedly challenged all the NC members. It is my people not courtesy or blessings of any political party or New-Delhi that I am here, Rashid shouted back at NC members.
Blaming National Conference founder for the miseries of Kashmiri people, Rashid said that NC was responsible for the miseries and destruction of Kashmiri nation as its leader late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah first let down Pakistan, then facilitated accession to India and then when lost power in 1953 advocated plebiscite for 22 years and called it as a political wilderness in 1975 and finally surrendered to New-Delhi by signing shameful Indra- Abdullah Accord.
He said this left Kashmiris into further confusion who were then left with no option but to take to gun as their tallest leader had miserably let them down.
National Conference members and ministers got irritated over the remarks and entered into verbal duals with Rashid and even used abusive language against fellow MLA.
NC members charged him of taking the house hostage and told him that he should leave the assembly and resolve Kashmir dispute outside. But unmoved Rashid continued his speech. There were heated arguments between him and NC members.
Even BJP and NPP members came forward to support NC members when Rashid said that in the garb of attack on CRPF, all the parties are blaming Kashmiri people.
Deputy Speaker who was in the chair time and again warned Er. Rashid to go back to his seat but he responded by saying that he will not leave ground open like others for facilitating the murder of Kashmiri people and will fight till last breath for the cause of Kashmiris even if he was hanged .
He challenged the MLAs that if Jammu & Kashmir was not a disputed territory then can they deny that both India and Pakistan have formally agreed in Shimla, Tashkant, Lahore and Agra that they will resolve the dispute of Jammu and Kashmir.
Rashid said that time has proved that government of India is not sincere and is keeping people of Kashmir with India at the barrel of the gun.
He asked the government why whole of the Kashmir Valley was continuously being kept under strict curfew and people were not even allowed to offer Friday prayers.
He said the curfew has been imposed despite the fact that Mutehda Majlis-e-Mashawrat had not issued any strike call for the day.
