SRINAGAR: Being still under house arrest, the chairman of the Hurriyat (M), Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, was unable to attend a conclave organised by the India Today group in New Delhi, a spokesman said.
The Mirwaiz was scheduled to attend the event on Friday and Saturday.
The Hurriyat (M) flayed the government for curbs on the Mirwaizs political and religious activities.
It said that repeated curfews, continuing arrests and use of heavy force and violence on peaceful protestors reflected the dictatorial mindset of the states rulers.
The manner in which a climate of terror has been created across the valley, and the masses left at the mercy of the forces who can kill whoever they want whenever they want is a brazen display of the governments anti-people policy, it said.
