SRINAGAR: In what could be an important lead in the investigation of the Wednesday Suicide attack on CRPF in Bemina, Srinagar, Police today arrested a Sikh youth on the charges of providing shelter to militants who carried the attack that left 5 CRPF men dead and 9 other including 5 CRPF personnel injured.
Police sources said Pradeep Singh; a Government employee of Kansipora Baramulla was detained after his name figured in the investigations.
Meanwhile hours after his detention, Director General Police, Ashok Prasad, who is himself monitoring the situation and the investigations, reviewed situation at Srinagar on Saturday afternoon. Sources said that DGP was briefed about the situation in the valley by senior officers. Besides the situation, Prasad took brief on the investigation of the Wednesday Fidayeen attack.
DGP was briefed about the situation in valley and the measures being taken to deal with it. Besides our main focus was to share information regarding the investigation on Wednesdays Fidayeen attack, senior Police officer said.
Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police, Abdul Gani Mir who took over charge from outgoing IGP SM Sahai, also held a meeting of officer where he was briefed about the overall security situation in valley, sources said. (KNS)
