Pandemonium in LA As PDP Stages Walk-out
JAMMU: Assembly session on Monday began on noisy note as Peoples Democratic Party wanted government to reply over the issue of wanton use of pepper gas by police forces while dealing with protestors.
PDP staged walked out and demanded that the use of pepper gas be stopped.
After the intervention of Speaker Mubarak Gul, PDP MLAs went back to seats.
After question hour, Mehbooba Mufti while addressing the chair of speaker said, You (Speaker) promised that well be allowed to speak on the issue after the question hour. Since question hour is over. Let you allow us to speak and through your chair we want reply from the government. Speaker said that government should be given some time to reply.
Not satisfied with the reply of Speaker, PDP MLAs staged walked out at 11:15 am.
Speaking to media persons outside the house, Mehbooba said that pepper gas was being used widely all across Kashmir.
Mehbooba while talking to reporters said that the use of pellet guns and pepper gas was completely inhuman and those who value human lives will certainly term it as anti-people.
Everyone saw the photograph of a boy published in a newspaper that was bearing pellet Gun injuries. He was badly wounded. Last time an old lady died due to inhalation of pepper gas. Is it justified? People are complaining of breathing problems, nasal bleedings, what kind of justice it is? We cant bail out government on this sensitive issue, she said.
After PDP members returned to the House, the Speaker asked the concerned minister to make a statement on the issue.
Replying on the issue, Law Minister Mir Saifullah on the behest of Home Minister said police has been given directions not to trouble people.
There are some problems faced by people in view of law and order disturbances but government is committed to ensuring that no such problems are faced by the people while dealing with protestors, Saifullah informed House.
