SRINAGAR: A CRPF jawan, guarding the official residence of senior minister Ali Mohammad Sagar at Church Lane, Srinagar shot himself dead with his service rifle during the wee hours of Friday.
The deceased was from Bihar and we have registered a case under section 174 of CrPc. Investigation is under way, a police official from Ram Munshi Bagh police station said.
Deceased has been identified as Constable Rahul Kumar of 79 Battalion CRPF. Police said that he died on the spot adding that it was not immediately known why he took the extreme step.
