SRINAGAR: National Conference President and Union Minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah today arrived in valley for a short visit and met partys General Secretary Sheikh Nazir Ahmad. The senior Abdullah flew back to Delhi in the evening.
According to party sources, the NC President met Sheikh Nazir Ahmad to discuss the prevailing situation in the valley. During the meeting which lasted for one and a half hours, the leaders also discussed certain important issues relating to the party, the sources added.
The meeting assumes significance in the wake of speculations that the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was upset with the deteriorating situation.
The party is believed to be contemplating a comprehensive strategy for forwarding its demands of revocation of AFSPA and restoration of autonomy, with an eye on the 2014 assembly elections.
