SRINAGAR: A feud over a patch of land in city outskirts Friday led to the death of a woman. A dispute over land in Bakshipora, Khushi Pora Noorbagh resulted in a brawl and in fit of rage a man, Ghulam Nabi Mir, allegedly attacked Saja W/O M Subhan Khanday with an axe.
Police said Saja of Bakshipora was visiting the contested land situated near her residence when she noticed some agricultural activity being carried out on it.
On raising her objections against the other parties, Ghualam Nabi Mir attacked the woman by axe resulting in her on the spot death, eye witnesses said.
Dispute had risen some four years back and it continues even today, they said.
SDPO MR Gunj said that a case in the matter has been registered and investigations have been initiated on fast track to ascertain the facts, adding, But no arrest has been made so far.
He said that the body of deceased was handed over to her family after completing legal formalities. Further details were awaited.
