SRINAGAR: Development of Health Sector is the top priority of the present government. For which, various hospitals are being upgraded all across the State in a phased manner.
The Government Chest Disease Hospital which is the sole tertiary care hospital of the Valley where patients from all over Kashmir division including Leh are attending for specialized chest diseases treatment has been upgraded.
The bed strength of the hospital has been increased by 70 beds which will facilitate the patients and shall decrease the work load of SMHS Hospital.
The Chest Disease Hospital will now provide 24×7 emergency services where patients of all emergencies related to chest diseases will be taken care of. Intensive care unit and laboratory facilities have been upgraded with all facilities and shall work round the clock.
Operation theatre with facilities of bronchoscopy (fiber optic and rigid), thoracoscopy has been now started in Chest Disease Hospital. Allergy Lab has been set up which shall detect cause of allergies in asthma and rhinitis patients. Polysonography (Sleep Studies) will start soon which shall facilitate in evaluating patients with suspected obstructive sleep apnea and snoring.
