SRINAGAR: The Hurriyat (M) has called an urgent meeting of its executive members on Wednesday to discuss its own stand on the demand for Muhammad Afzal Gurus body, ahead of the next session of the newly-formed United Consultative Council (UCC).
Sources said that the top Hurriyat (M) leadership would draw up its strategy on the demand to be subsequently put before the UCC when it meets to announce its next move on the issue.
All executive members of the faction have been informed of the meeting due to be held at the Hurriyat (M)s Rajbagh headquarters at 11 tomorrow morning, sources said.
In the event of Mirwaiz Umar Farooqs absence, senior leader Prof Abdul Ghani Bhat will chair the meeting.
The Hurriyat (M) chairman is under house arrest since his return from New Delhi, and another executive member, Shabir Ahmad Shah, is in custody at the Central Jail.
Peoples League chief Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, also a member of the Hurriyat (M) executive council, was released from the Sher Bagh police station after 14 days yesterday, and has been barred by the police from leaving town without informing authorities, sources said.
However, Maulana Abbas Ansari, Agha Syed Hassan, Bilal Ghani Lone and Muhammad Musaddiq Aadil are expected to attend tomorrows meeting apart from Prof Ghani.
