JAMMU: A meeting of the committee on Subordinate Legislation was held here today under the Chairmanship of Prof Chaman Lal Gupta to examine the Rules, Regulations and Bye laws of the Tourism Department.
The members of the Committee Dr Mustaffa Kamal, Mr. Ashok Kumar, Mr. Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Ch Zulfkar Ali and Mrs Indu Pawar stressed the need for tapping the tourism potential of the unexplored areas by developing infrastructural and logistic facilities for attracting tourists.
They also asked the concerned officers to highlight the newly developed tourism spots and give due publicity to these sites to prolong the stay of tourists visiting the state adding that tourists should be provided information regarding all important destinations linked with religious ,border and adventure tourism.
The panel said tourism industry provides great employment opportunities and all out efforts should be made to explore its potential to strengthen the economy of the state.
Commissioner Secretary Tourism, Mr. Atal Dullo, Special Secretary Law, Farhat Tasneem, Director Tourism Jammu, R. S. Mehta and other officers were present in the meeting.
