SRINAGAR: Oil and Gas companies today announced that the home delivery of LPG cylinders in urban areas of the Valley will begin by February and in rural areas by March this year.
The information was given by the representatives of these companies at an officers meeting which was held to review the stock and supply position of various essential commodities in the Valley. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Mr. Baseer Ahmad Khan, Director CA&PD, Kashmir, Mir Mushtaq Ahmad, Regional Manager, Food Corporation of India, Kashmir and representatives of various Oil Companies.
The meeting was informed that 32,527 metric tons of rice have been distributed to consumers in Kashmir while as 6,729 metric tons of rice have been lifted in advance by CA&PD department from Food Corporation of India.
The meeting was further informed that 2,841 metric tons of sugar have been distributed and 2,130 metric tons of sugar are lying with Food Corporation of India.
For the month of February, 7224 metric tons of wheat and 22,400 metric tons of rice are available in different godowns of Food Corporation of India.
Divisional Commissioner directed CA&PD authorities to divert 49 unlifted kerosene oil tankers to the deficit areas under close supervision of concerned Deputy Commissioners.
On this occasion, the representatives of Oil and Gas Companies informed the meeting that there is buffer stock of LPG in the Valley and the directions for implementing home delivery of LPG cylinders in urban areas by February this year while as in rural areas by March this year will be strictly adhered to.
