SRINAGAR: An 18-year-old boy was crushed to death by a speeding truck in Sopore after falling off his motorcycle, reports said.
The tragedy occurred in the Bomai area of the northern township early this morning when the victim going with a pillion-rider.
Owais Rasool Bhat lost control of his bike due to slippery road conditions, and fell off along with his cousin, Suhail Bashir, eyewitnesses said.
The fallen Bhat was a run over by a speeding truck coming in the opposite direction, eyewitnesses said.
He was killed on the spot, and his companion is said to be in a serious condition in hospital.
According to reports, the motorcycle was brand new, and bore no registration markings.
The truck driver sped away from the scene, dodging locals who had set off in hot pursuit.
The police has registered a case, and begun a hunt for the driver.
