BAGHDAD: At least 42 people were killed and dozens injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up during a funeral at a Shia mosque, in north of Baghdad.
The incident occurred in the afternoon when the suicide bomber blew himself up among mourners at a funeral inside the mosque in Tuz-Khurmato city, some 200 km from Baghdad, a police source said.
It was the funeral of a government employee, killed a day ago, and was also a relative of Shuhadaa Hashim, a Shiite member of the Council of Salahudin province, the source added.
According to local officials, more than 70 people have been also wounded in the explosion.
In one attack, five people were killed and 14 others wounded after a bomber detonated a car packed with explosives in the town of Mahmoudiya, south of Baghdad.
Shortly after, a car bomb was detonated near an army checkpoint in the northern Baghdad suburb of Taji, killing seven people and injuring 20 others.
Five people were also killed in a car bomb explosion near a market in the northern Baghdad neighborhood of Shuala. Twelve people were also injured in the bombing. Agencies
