JAMMU: Democratic Freedom Party Chairman, Shabir Ahmad Shah Friday said that the prevailing situation in the valley was not a cause of concern for just the Kashmiri people but for millions of people in whole of South Asia. Shah held these views while interacting with the members of JK Thinkers Forum at freedom House at Narwal Jammu.
The situation in Kashmir has become a serious cause of concern for the crores of the people of South Asia. It is not only for the people of Kashmir, Shah said adding Kashmir issue is the issue related with the people of both Jammu and Kashmir. That is why when I was released from jail in 1994, I toured all the three regions of the valley Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh to stress the fact that it is the issue of the people as a whole of the state, he said.
Chairman JKTF Kuldeep Pandita, Comarade Mohan Lal, Janki Nath Kaul, M K Tikoo, Aryal Wali and others also participated in the meeting.
I had always raised my voice against the division of the state, Shah said adding that after his release he went to all the camps where the pundits were staying out in different regions. I told them that there are some conspiring forces who are trying to break the bond of unity among the Muslims and Pandits. We did not have any differences, our culture, our language and other characters were same in every respect, he added.
Our daughters played in the lawns of Pandits and their daughters played in our lawns. We have shared our joys and sorrows. We feel ourselves incomplete without the them and always wish their return to the valley.
Pandits were flown out of the valley under a deep rooted conspiracy. The communication gap has to be reduced. We have lived in harmony for the decades and have set an example, he said.
Stating that they have always been fighting against the aggression of the non-Kashmiris on the valley, he said that it was because of the fact that they are demanding that the control over the Amarnath Shrine Board should be handed over to the Pandit community of the state.
Stating that the Kashmir issue was the main cause of conflict between India and Pakistan, Shah said that the talks process will not proceed until the Kashmir issue was resolved as per the aspirations of the people of Kashmir. He assured Pandits that when the time will come for the resolution of the Kashmir issue as per UN resolutions or through tripartite talks the aspirations o the Kashmiri Pandits will be taken into active consideration.
