JAMMU:| Two pilgrims to Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine were killed and about 20 others injured in a bus accident while travelling from Jammu to Katra, the base camp for the pilgrimage.
A police official in Katra said the bus was on its way from Jammu, when it overturned on the hilly road just three km short of Katra. “Two pilgrims died in the accident. Twenty others were injured,” he said.
The injured are being shifted to a Katra hospital. The condition of four of the injured is stated to be serious.
The police official said that according to a statement from the injured, the driver of the bus was speeding. A case has been registered.
