SRINAGAR: Peoples Conference General Secretary Rashid Mehmood has cautioned the state government about its time-gaining strategy regarding the issues and the demands of the state employees.
In a statement Rashid Mehmood has said that by ignoring the genuine demands of the employees the government is actually deteriorating the states economy. He said that it is unfortunate the despite reaching agreements with the Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) leaders, the government has always backtracked these agreements.
He said that the government seems to be worried only about the legislators as it is trying to make them delighted by giving perks, new vehicles and bungalows to them to keep them in good humor. Huge funds are being wasted over the luxurious life styles of legislators, While at the same time the common people in the state are suffering by problems like the shortage of the LPG, Ration, and electricity and due to the pathetic conditions of roads and prices hike.
He said the reality is that the system is not being run by the rulers but because of the work and sacrifices the employees and unfortunately the same employees are made to suffer and being sent to lockups only for demanding for the justice and their rights.
He said the masses of valley are suffering and at the same time the people at the helm of affairs are enjoying their lavish life in the winter capital in the name of Darbar Move.
Rashid Mehmood said that even in the absence of state assembly the system was run by the employees and now the same employees are made to suffer and protest for their rights. He said that had the government been sincere, it would have implemented the agreement, which was reached by the JCC and the Government in 2011.
He further said that even after the said agreement took place, the employees again postponed there agitation in March 2012 to give the government another chance and yet another agreement was formed and accepted by the parties and then again one more agreement was reached upon in September 2012 but it is unfortunate that the government always failed to keep its word and implement the agreements with state employees.
He said now due to the pathetic approach of the government the JCC is forced to go for a pen down strike on 9, 10 and 11th of this month and obviously this will cause the trouble to both the employees and the common people.
Rashid Mehmood said that the J&K Peoples Conference suggests the governmentt to take anticipatory initiatives to solve the issues with the employees and to full fill their genuine demands so that the sufferings of the common masses are not further aggravated.
