The WD likely to disrupt surface, air traffic
SRINAGAR: The Western Disturbance, originating in Arabian sea and entering the region through Afghanistan and Pakistan, is likely to disrupt surface and air traffic tomorrow (Friday).
Director Met department Sonam Lotus said this afternoon that the present WD over the state is likely to intensify during the next 24 hours.
It will affect J&K and adjoining areas from tonight till December 29 evening.
Due to this weather system, moderate snowfall over hills and rains in plains will occur at most places of Pirpanjal ranges in Kashmir division and at many places over higher reaches of Jammu region and at a few places over Ladakh region.
Some places of Pirpanjal range, including the Srinagar-Jammu national highway and Mughal road may receive heavy snowfall (30 cms and above).
This system is likely to disrupt surface and air transport systems tomorrow. He said during this period day temperature will fall by four to five degrees. However, the night temperature will rise by 1 to 2 degrees.
