SRINAGAR: The Department of Chemistry, University of Kashmir, Srinagar, in collaboration with Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM) CSIR, Sanatnagar, Srinagar, conducted the CSIR-UGC NET examination on 23rd of December-2012 in the University Campus.
A total of 2286 candidates out of 2786 enrolled appeared in the said test under various disciplines of Life Science, Mathematical Science, Engineering Science, Earth Science, Physical Science and Chemical Sciences. Inspite of the sub zero temperatures, 82% candidates appeared in the test which is much higher than the National average of around 70%.
The Vice-Chancellor Professor Talat Ahmad visited different centres alongwith Dean Academic Affairs, Dean Research and other officials and lauded the keen interest shown by the students who are appearing in large number in National level examinations like NET. He emphasized that this would go a long way in generating human resource for higher education and research at both State and National level. The department of Chemistry is also conducting UGC-NET examination on 30th of December-2012 in which more than 11000 candidates are appearing.
