Hurriyat (M)’s Pak Visit From Dec 15

SRINAGAR (ONS) – The Hurriyat (M) on Monday announced the dates for its Pakistan visit, saying that it would undertake the 8-day trip from December 15.

The regional passport office here said that passports had been issued for Maulana Abbas Ansari and Musaddiq Aadil as well, while travel documents to Shabir Ahmad Shah and Maulana Abdullah Tari for using the Uri crossing-point were “under consideration.”    

Pakistan foreign ministry spokesman Mu’azzam Khan said that the Hurriyat leaders would hold key deliberations with top government figures, including prime minister Raja Parvez Ashraf, foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khan, during the trip scheduled to end on December 22.

All executive members of the Hurriyat (M), except Peoples League chief Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, have been issued passports or other travel documents, reports said.

Those accompanying Mirwaiz Umer Farooq on the trip include Prof Abdul Ghani Bhat, Maulana Abbas Ansari, Agha Syed Hassan, Bilal Ghani Lone and Musaddiq Aadil, and the team is likely to depart from Srinagar on December 13 and 14.

Meanwhile, the Hurriyat (M) has convened its last round of consultations for December 12.

Having strongly opposed the group’s Pakistan visit ahead of elections in the country, Shabir Shah too has applied for travel documents, reports said.

Shah had secured himself a separate meeting with the Pak High Commission in New Delhi recently after the rest of the faction’s leaders returned from meeting Islamabad’s envoy to India last month. 

Meanwhile Pakistan Foreign office spokesman Mua’zam Khan on Monday confirmed that Hurriyat delegation was traveling to Pakistan during which they will be meeting top Pakistan leadership including Prime Minster.
